The Department of Humanities is the heart and soul of intellectual, aesthetic, creative and humanitarian discourses of St. Anne’s Degree College for women. It is an invigorating space enlivened by a diverse and vibrant student community, eager to carve out their own niche. We firmly believe in developing interpersonal communication between teachers and students as well as creating an environment that will synergistically link scientific developments and thoughts to enhance the socio-economic, linguistic, managerial and humanistic development of the country. The Department has an inter-disciplinary approach to teaching-learning methods that cater to students from multicultural background.
The department was established in the year 2007. It offers Triple major course specializing in the subjects like Psychology, Journalism, and Communicative English at under graduate level of B.A. and currently offering postgraduates programs in English Literature and Psychology.
It was B. F. Skinner, one of the most famous American psychologists, who said, “Education is not just the filling of a pail, it is the lighting of a fire.” As a department, it has been our goal to not just impart the intricacies of the subject to students, but also to create a passion for life and a compassion for others in them.

She has 5 years of teaching experience for UG students at St. Anne’s Degree College for Women and taught PG students as a Guest faculty in the Department of Psychology, Bangalore University, Jnanabharathi Campus. She completed her B.Sc. from Maharani’s Science College for Women, Master’s in Psychology from Bangalore University, Post graduate diploma in Psychological Counseling from the same university. Currently Pursuing her Ph.D. from Karnataka University, Dharwad. Her Areas of Specialization are Clinical Psychology, Positive Psychology & Counseling Psychology. She has qualified her K-SET for lectureship and Assistant professor. She strongly believes in taking teaching as a Passion rather than a Profession. Beyond the class room learning she also encourage the students in co-curricular activities as it facilitate in the development of various domains of mind and personality such as intellectual, emotional, social and aesthetic development of the students. she has attended and presented papers in many national and international seminars & conferences. She has been associated with Muktha Foundation and conducted a workshop on ‘Child sexual abuse and Prevention’ for the rural school students. |

A master degree holder on “Psychotherapy & counselling” with distinction from Indian Virtual University under Planning Commission, Govt of India. A diploma holder in “Counselling and Psychotherapy “ from Anugraha ,Tamil Nadu. Also diploma holder in “Professional Depression Counseling & Professional Addiction Counseling” from KEW Academy, UK. Counselled hundreds of parent’s and student’s on the issues and goals that matter to their life; over past 9 years . Eminent speaker on most rewarded topics like “Dealing with emotions, How to handle adolescence, Enhancing self esteem, Behavioral Science, Dealing with fear & anxiety, Handling peer pressure, Enriching family bonding, Classroom Management etc., Ms.Swathi is very creative in delivering seminars. She is very optimistic and supportive when it comes to dealing with students. She is an easy goer and a peace maker with whomever she comes across. Her passion is towards being with students and she always spreads love and joy. |

The teaching faculty members are the facilitators for knowledge and skill through interactive learning methods & she is the one who strongly believes in it, which can be clearly seen through her passion towards teaching. Ms. M. Sindhya Prida is presently working as Asst. Professor in St.Anne’s Degree College for Women, in the department of psychology and also as an educator in Evening College. She is a positive motivator & active person who has completed her UG in rehabilitation science from St.Anne’s Degree College for Women (2016) & PG in applied Psychology from Bangalore University (2018) & started her carrier in teaching since 2018. | |

Shiji Abraham is an Assist professor of St. Anne’s Degree College For Women, in the department of Journalism. She earned her B.A (Bachelor of Arts) from SNDT University, Mumbai and PG (Post graduation) from St. Joseph’s Autonomous College Bangalore. After her studies she worked as a reporter at IBC World News, Bangalore. She has published news reports at IBC World News and articles in magazines. She loves photography and teaching reporting, editing, advertising and Fundamentals of Journalism. |
