Keeping in view the above fact and demand of the time and prospects of commerce education, Post Graduate Department of Commerce was established in the year 2017 and has been foresightedly designing and offering various programmes and activities to enable students to meet the growing needs of business society and emerge as professional leaders. Post graduate department of commerce is armed with prominent, ingenious and competent teaching community.

M.com is a specialized course which prepares an individual for a career in finance and corporate sector. This program is quite well received in the industry and has been serving the needs of managerial cadre in business and industry. It includes a lot of thesis-based components and also has some research-based elements. It takes the students a notch higher than a Bachelor degree in Commerce and helps you have a thorough knowledge of various Commerce and trade practices.
Scope for Employment:
The program is generally focused on different disciplines like accounting, actuarial science, business management, corporate governance, human resource management, economics, statistics, finance and marketing or supply chain management. There are many career options present for M.com graduates in the field of finance, commerce, import & export, banking, insurance and various other industries.
Innovative Methods of Teaching:
- Peer Tutoring – a teaching strategy wherein second year M.com students deliver a seminar to first M.com students to escalate their self-confidence.
- Learning gauge – an activity in the form of quiz to make the students understand the concept thoroughly.
- Mock viva-voce - to enhance the confidence level for the students to appear with self-assurance in the final viva voce examination.
- Lectures using ICT
Research Work:
As a part of curriculum each student will choose business research project, live business problem in a business organization or industry, and prepare a dissertation report. The department faculty members also take an incessant effort in research work and publish papers in reputed national, international and UGC approved journals.

Dr. K. Venkatalakshmi, is an Associate Professor and Head, PG Department of Commerce in St Annes Degree College for Women, Bangalore. She has obtained university rank in M.com degree in Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal. She has to her credit M.Phil in Commerce from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli and Ph.D in commerce from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has 11 years of teaching experience at UG&PG level. She has guided UG and PG projects. She has participated in various State and National level seminars and had presented 15 papers and published 9 papers in UGC approved and other International journals. She has chaired technical sessions at conferences. Authored and published a book on Work life conflict with ISBN. She is also serving as a co-ordinator of Research Forum and also as a member of IQAC since three years. She was awarded twice by the institution for cent percent academic results. |

Mr.Ranjith Kumar. A is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce since 2006. He has obtained his M.A and M.Phil degrees from St.Joseph’s College, Trichy and MBA in HRM from Alagappa University. He has Cleared his K-SET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test) and NET (National Eligibility Test) for Assistant Professor. He has 14 years of teaching Experience at UG and PG Level. His areas of interest are Research Methodology, Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, Advanced Micro Economics, Managerial Economics, Statistics, Banking and Entrepreneurial Development etc. He has authored Marketing & Services Management and Banking Law and Operations Text books for B.Com course of Bangalore University. He has presented research Papers in State and National conferences and actively attended workshops and Faculty development Programmes.

Ms.Veena Kumari.V has been working with St.Anne’s Degree College in the capacity of a faculty and later as the Head of the Department of Commerce from 2008 to 2019 and at present is with the PG Department of Commerce. She has presented around ten papers in various National conferences organized in Bangalore. She has organized a State Level Seminar “Strategies and Challenges in Service Marketing in the context of Globalisation” in 2011, a Faculty Development Programme “Effective Teaching Methods in Higher Education” in 2018 and Learning Management Systems Post Covid-19 in 2020. She has published four research papers in leading International Journals. She has co- authored books on Corporate Accounting, Banking Law and Operations and Question Bank for Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting and Income tax. She has set a question paper for the Bangalore University on “Theory and Practice of Banking” in 2013. She is the recipient of “Teachers Day Awards 2018” from International Institute of Hotel Management. She holds a Master’s degree in commerce from Bangalore University, M.Phil. from Madurai Kamaraj University and has submitted her Ph.D. thesis at Rayalaseema University. Her strength lies in her interest in gaining insight on competencies and improving pedagogical skills. |

Currently she is working in St.anne’s Degree college for women as Assistant Professor with Post graduation department. Her area of expertise is finance and currently dealing with various accounting and finance related subjects. She has guided PG students for their academic reports in finance related topics. She has been one of the panel member for post graduate Viva Voce (University of Mysore). She has attended various National and International conferences and presented and published papers in National (UGC approved) journals. Currently she is involved in the college cultural related activities for promoting the talents of Students. Her areas of expertise are Human Resource Management, International Finance, Organizational Behavior, Risk Management and Entrepreneurship Development. She has attended and presented papers in various National and International conferences. She has also published research papers in national (UGC recognized) and International journals of repute. She has played a major role in guiding PG and UG students for their academic projects. She has been a Panel Member for Post Graduate Viva Voce (University of Mysore).
