The Department of commerce was established in the year 2005 with an intake of 58 students with five faculty members. From the year 2005 there has been consistency in the Academic performance of the students. From the Academic year 2009-10 one more section was added and the present strength of the department is nearing 700.The department has produced a good number of quality professionals who are well-placed in important positions in the industry in India and abroad.
The Department offers Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Commerce Degrees, one of the most demanded courses of the contemporary academic world. The students have added to its prestige by securing university ranks and high level placements. Highly professional in nature, the course intends to provide a foundation for students who plan to pursue their career in business, commerce, accounting etc. Our students undergo internship programmes after their fourth semester which makes them more adaptable with the industrial world. Industrial visits are also there for all the classes.
We also encourage students to organize events such as National Seminars, Inter-college and inter department meets, participate in events organized by other colleges and also get involved in activities of social relevance. They are enabled to think creatively and to develop right mindset to meet the challenges of the globalised business environment, through value based education, interpersonal relations and outreach programmes.
With all these inputs one finds our students hardworking, practical-oriented and effective in any work environment. The curriculum is taught by a distinguished faculty combining academic excellence and real world experience with dedication and commitment.
The Department of Commerce has initiated several innovative practices for student development. This includes “CAMARADARIE”, the commerce club, to encourage students to showcase their talents and help them to develop the overall personality. It organizes guest lectures, workshops and conducts add on programs to expose the students to various aspects outside the ambit of academics.
Inter class competitions are conducted on various commerce events like Mad ads, Product Launch, Mock Stock, Best Manager etc. to identify the talented students who can participate in the Inter collegiate fest hosted by other colleges in the city. The department hosts Intercollegiate Commerce Seminars to encourage students to develop their overall caliber in Academics and managerial skills. The department has been successful in conducting inter collegiate fest for four consecutive years.

He has Cleared his K-SET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test) and NET (National Eligibility Test) for Assistant Professor.
Mr. Mohamed Aftab is Currently working as Assistant professor, St. Anne's Degree College for women, Halasuru, Bangalore which is NAAC accredited. He has 13 years of experience in teaching. He is popular among the students for excellence results and achieved award as appreciation. He has delivered a guest lecture in various Puc and degree Colleges in accounting subjects. He has actively participated in various national and international seminars, Works shops and Faculty development programs. He has set accounting question paper for autonomous colleges.
Ms Ramya has obtained her post Graduate degree in commerce (Accounting & Taxation) from Bangalore University (2011) and PGDBA (2015) from Annamalai University. Currently pursuing her Ph.D in Commerce from Bharathiar University. She has previously worked with KPK Faserv Pvt Ltd as an accounts executive (June2011 till Dec 2011); worked as a Lecturer in PG Academy, Pattambi (May 2012 till March 2013) and after which she joined St Anne’s Degree College for Women, as an Assistant Professor. She also worked as a faculty in St Anne’s Evening College (June 2014- May 2019).
He is currently pursuing his PhD in banking from Garden city university, Bangalore and has completed post graduate degree in commerce (Accounting &Taxation) from Bangalore university (2014), he has a 5 plus years’ experience in the field of teaching, he teaches various subjects like GST, Financial Accounting, corporate Accounting, cost accounting, Business tax, Auditing etc. held responsibilities of being –faculty in charge of commerce association, co-ordinator for Red cross wings, NSS program officer .and also worked as Examiner for Bangalore university and Bangalore central university .
Ms. Khutaija Nazneen is working as Asst.Professor in the Department of Commerce from January 2015 onwards. She has 6 years of teaching experience in the field of Corporate Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, Stock and Commodity Markets, Financial Management, Business Ethics, Business Regulations, IFRS, GST and Business Taxation.
Ms. Anitha joined the Department of Commerce in 2016. She has done her Master’s in commerce from Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College with a specialization in Accounting and Taxation. She has 4 years of teaching experience. She has participated in several national and international conferences and seminars. She has also presented & published research paper on Human Resources Management.
Ms.Maria Glory Antony is a dynamic and passionate individual, is one of the youngest and enterprising teacher in the college. It has always been her desire to be part of, and make an impact in the education revolution of the current days. She began her teaching career with teaching practice at St. Anne’s Evening College and thereafter had worked for Dr.Ambedkar Degree College and currently teaching for undergraduate students in St. Anne’s Degree College for Women, since July, 2018.
T V S Bhanumathi has been Associated with St.Anne’s Degree College, from July-2019. She has been involved in teaching Commerce, Business Studies, quantitative analysis, and Accounts for more than 8 years. She has been with various institutions at Chennai since 2000. She attended various syllabus-oriented workshops and seminars. She has done her specialisation in the field of Entrepreneurship. She was also worked as a co-ordinator in examination committee.
She is currently working in St. Anne’s Degree College for women ,Cambridge layout, Halasuru, Bangalore as an Assistant Professor, of the commerce department from the academic year 2019. Her area of interest is taxation, banking, auditing and marketing. She is handling subjects like Income Tax I & II, IFRS, Auditing, Quantitative analysis for business decision, Business ethics, MTBDA and Stock and commodity market. She is also associated with the AICUF committee and Red ribbon club of the institute giving valuable contribution to the management.
